Cafeteria plans are employee benefit plans authorized by the IRS under Section 125 which allow employees to elect to pay for certain group insurance benefits with pre-tax dollars. In addition, Flexible Spending accounts allow the employee to create tax-free accounts to pay for non-reimbursed eligible medical, dental and vision expenses, day care and elder care. Employers also benefit by increasing benefits offered in their employment package and by receiving tax allowances for employers.
